A quick announcement to let you all know that all servers have now been updated for Minecraft 1.7.2. Since Bukkit 1.7.2 is still in the development stage, there may be bugs and certain plugins may not be working 100%. If you discover any bugs please report them by replying to this thread or PM me on the forums/IRC/in-game if those bugs can be considered exploitable. The reason we’re updating before the reset is so we can iron out any issues we may encounter to deliver the best Minecraft experience possible when the reset happens.
As for the scheduled free-build server reset, it should happen within the next week. Shout out to our active architects for their great work and dedication so far on the creation of the new spawn. More information and the concrete date and time for when the server reset will happen will follow within a few days.
Please note that Skyblock will remain unaffected by the free-build server reset.
I am pleased to announce that it is time to welcome our beloved staff members Gweldor and Doobomb back! They have both made huge contributions to the server in the past, and I am really excited to see them back in the Staff team. Let’s all give them a warm welcome back!
In other news, you can now apply to get your builds transferred over to the new map when we reset. To do so, . Please make sure you read the Requirements-post before you post an application though, it can be easily identified under the title “Read this before you post”.
I an honored to welcome our latest addition to the admin-team, Game Master psychojenii! She has been an invaluable asset to UMC as a moderator for almost 2 years, and a promotion has been due for some time.
In other news, I apologize for the unexpected downtime this evening. Our server apparently thought it could get the weekend off, and we ran some hardware diagnostics checks to make sure everything was still healthy. All services has now been restored!
UltimateMinecraft.net is only a few days away from making it past the three-year mark. What a great three years we’ve had together! I’d like to thank every one of you for playing on our server, participating in our community and making Ultimate Minecraft what it is! Click “Read more” for an important announcement.
The month of October has been fairly busy in terms of the staff team, and today was no exception! Two new moderators were promoted to join the staff team, furyxpwnage and DukeOfNuke01! Both have been rewarded for their long time dedication and for helping out in game. Welcome to the team, and I’m sure they will perform exceptionally! Give them a bit of slack for the first few weeks while they are still learning the role, there’s a lot to be trained up in! Good luck for the future for you both!
Today brings a bit of news from all over the joint!
Sadly, a number of staff members have stepped down from their positions. Fabaceous, DDancer and Doobomb have all left the staff team. We wish them well in real life as well as for whatever the future brings, and thank them for their hard work and dedication to UMC. Hopefully you can pop in whenever you get some free time.
There is a Minecraft update, 1.7, slated for release this Friday. As with all previous updates, it takes some time for UMC to update as we have to wait on our plugins to be updated. This also means that you should not update your client, otherwise you will be unable to play on UMC unless you change back to version 1.6.4! Please show patience as we endeavor to update as quickly as possible, but understand that this process can usually take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how quickly the necessary plugins are updated.
UMiCef has been pretty slow going, but in the past months DukeOfNuke01 has completed his UMiCef project. A reminder that you can check out all UMiCef projects that are complete/near completion through the stargate in the UMiCef centre at spawn.
As a player spotlight this week, I would like to highlight the fact that our beloved Gweldor has returned after settling down in his new job! He can be found playing a lot of Skyblock, and should be around for a lot longer. Make sure to say hi!
A final note, to dispel a few rumours/misconceptions going around lately. UMC is not looking to add a Feed The Beast (FTB) server at any point in the near future, instead concentrating on other avenues. UMC will also not be pursuing the project of “The Walls”, as in it’s current form it is incomplete and is extremely difficult to make work properly, as the old creators are no longer around to help with the finer points such as redstone. There was a test run with a group of 8-10 players in game, and we found it basically unplayable. “The Walls” really requires a dedicated plugin and world to work effectively as a self-run, player managed game. Survival games/PVP maps are on the agenda to be looked at in the future, most likely after the next update.
That’s all for now, but hopefully we can get a more frequent news posting schedule going forward into the future. That’s all for now folks!
I shall start off with the sad news. ProChorus recently announced he would be stepping down from his GM position, and from the staff team entirely. He has contributed greatly to the server, and on behalf of the whole staff team, we thank you. Make sure to check out the linked thread for Pro’s full explanation, and feel free to leave him any well wishes. We’ll hold you to your promise to stick around and continue playing as part of the UMC community, it’d be too weird to not have your bearded goodness around.
In good news, mrtmcflyy has returned from “real life” to once again join us, and has resumed his role as a distinguished architect among our ranks. He has already stepped back into the role with ease, and I’m sure he will continue to wow and amaze with fantastic builds all round.
Apart from that, it seems to be a busy time in real life for most people, with school/university/college resuming for many. Hopefully free time and holidays will arrive again soon!
… and praise Locke
Unfortunately, today the staff team says goodbye to 3 long time members who have been consumed by the evil force known only as “the real world”. A huge thankyou goes out to Gweldor, jake0830, and Rob4001 for their contributions to the staff team over the years – we would have been in some rough spots were it not for you guys! We very much hope you’ll stick around, with Rob continuing on as a developer.
In unrelated news, Hunger Games has been tweaked to give players 30 minutes to prepare, plan, and gear up before the feast begins. You’ll find that HG is now a much more tactical proposition, rather than the deathmatch it was at launch.
