Greetings fellow UMC’ers! You may have noticed a lack of activity from UMiCef on the front page! Fear not, for UMiCef is still alive and well, I’ve just been busy the past few weeks. I’ll start off with some sad news, I have recently had to go through the UMiCef projects and close off those that have become inactive… hopefully in the future we will have a lot more projects coming through as complete!
In good news, as mentioned in the last update, UMiCef has its own stargate network, which is accessible from the UMiCef centre at spawn! Ask for directions if you cannot find it, or take the spawn stargate system to UMicef! It is well worth checking out some of the awesome builds
DukeOfNuke01 has been working well on his project, Aldedge, and it is coming along nicely There is a picture below of the progress so far, and it is accessible via the UMiCef stargate system!
In other news, the UMiCef plugin has been updated to take new items into consideration! This means that we need donations of the new items (such as nether quartz) to enable us to start to hand this out in requests! Any donations would be appreciated.
Not much else to recount. There haven’t been many applications recently. I would encourage everyone who is considering building a large scale project to apply! As long as you have made a start to your project (it doesn’t have to be a huge amount), you haven’t been recently banned and you are intending to be fairly active, chances are your application will be accepted and you could be seeing your build on the front page, and on an exclusive stargate network! I would also like to remind people that if you feel that improvements could be made to UMiCef, or if you have suggestions, make a thread in the server suggestions of the forum! It’d be nice to see an even greater participation in the UMiCef program
This has been an exciting week for promotions! The lovely and dainty JoibJorn was promoted June 4th, and today we have 2 more spectacular people promoted! DDancer has graciously joined our staff team, and shall help us smite the evil-doers whilst aiding our fellow members and community mates in the glorious world of UMC! Additionally, please help us welcome Kyroce to the Architect team. His mastery of redstone along with his building prowess are an excellent addition to the Arch team.
Thanks to all three of our recent promotees. Your dedication and willingness to help are very much appreciated, and we expect great things from you all!
That’s right, I’ve decided to make a little comeback to the server. There is a small change though, I’ve started to use an alternate username on various websites as to not reveal my entire name, so my in-game name will now be “rylinaux” – this will probably be confusing to many people at first so feel free to let other people know instead of having them freak out when they see someone they’ve never seen before as an admin.
Ultimate Minecraft now has an official Facebook Page! We will be using it to post small news tidbits, advertise upcoming events, and perhaps we’ll even run some competitions from time to time. Please help us by liking our page to show your support, and get yourself in on the action. It’s a little bare for now, as it’s brand new and baby-faced, but rest assured that it should start to take shape over the coming weeks. Thanks, Minecrafters!
A quick post today to wish our friend and GM ProChorus a very happy birthday! We can’t thank you enough for all the work you have put in over your relatively short time so far as a GM. Here’s to you – put your feet up, have a drink, and don’t stop being an Ultimate Minecrafter.
*Nobody is actually turning 73 today.
First off, I’d like to give a big congratulations to our newest moderator, Doobomb! Doobomb has been an active player in the UMC community, he first played during our temp map of Beta 1.8, and has been a big part of UMC since, being well known for his insanely brilliant story telling abilities. We are sure he will succeed as a moderator, make sure you say hey to him if you spot him in game!
Next is a UMiCef update! I apologise for the lack of regular updates, but times were a bit slow with the transition from 1.4.7 to 1.5.1.
In this time, UMiCef has had projects completed and some new projects as well. Donutman48 completed his project “Imperial Fortress”
Check out the full build here: http://imgur.com/a/GY7mD#0
Here is a quote from Donutman48 himself, after being the first person to complete a build using the new UMiCef, describing his thoughts of UMiCef and his experience with it.
“I have found UMiCef to be one of my favorite parts about UMC! The program has been extremely helpful with supplying builders such as myself with the items needed to create our amazing builds. Its easy to apply for and without it, my first project wouldn’t even be close to complete and the other not even started. It definitely does its job well and is run by very friendly people! I strongly encourage its use by others in need of supplies and will continue to use it for all my building purposes.”
DukeofNuke01 also completed his project “The Tribes”. We also have two new builds, Donutman48‘s “Giant Mansion Build” and upscalemadness‘s “The Citadel”. More details (pictures) to come later!
Now for some new things to be introduced to UMiCef! One change is that the “Latest News” thread in the UMiCef forum will be removed, instead all of the latest news will be front page news posts such as this one. I may make brand new posts for major changes in the forum still though.
The other main change is that I have started setting up a UMiCef stargate network! Eligibility will be assessed by a GM, but basically projects have to be complete/near completion, as well as majorly funded by UMiCef to qualify for the network. The two completed projects mentioned above are already on the network, be sure to check them out! You can access this network from inside the UMiCef centre at spawn.
I’d like to point out that the server has just been update to Minecraft version 1.5.1, so all of you who have been itching to get back online with us with all the new features need not wait a minute longer! We’re also happy to announce that the nether has been reset this morning too – so if you’re itching for some glowstone, or perhaps some adventure, now is the time to visit.
That’s all for now, enjoy your Easter weekend – perhaps we’ll see you with us online!
Congrats to jack_wesley on his promotion to arch! Be sure to hunt down the build that attracted the arch’s attention. We expect great things from you jack!
Quite well! There have been many generous players donating to us, thank you very much for that! In terms of inventory news, we still really need glass, glowstone, any coloured wool and logs, however our stocks have slightly improved of these due to UMiCef now using gold to buy materials from shops in desperate times! If you check out the accepted projects, I will generally state where I have been unable to provide a certain material and the reason for this (often because we don’t have enough) so if you feel like helping out, check this out and donate that material! Remember we only keep working through player donations!
The only other major news with UMicef to talk about are 3 new projects that have been accepted and materials provided to! First was DukeOfNuke01 with his build “The Tribes”, seen below.
Then there was rallekalle11′s build “The Ivory Tower” based on the movie “The Never Ending Story”.
This build is still in its infancy, but a good solid foundation is there for a nice addition to the server.
The final project that has been funded by UMiCef is “Imperial Fortress” by donutman48.
This is a really impressive project, made all the more impressive that this picture was taken before UMiCef materials had been used! I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product of this, it has a lot of potential.
One final mention, all of the projects that UMiCef funds will have a sign placed along the stairs next to the donation chest at spawn, with the current status of the project, the name, the owner and the coordinates. The picture below shows you exactly where.
Be sure to check this out for a nice overview of all the UMiCef funded projects! That’s all for now, be sure to check out all these builds in game, either by walking to the coordinates or ask the player when they are online if you can come and see. Also, keep donating materials so we can keep UMiCef running and continue supporting players creating awe inspiring projects to spice up the server! Happy Minecrafting!
If you don’t know what UMiCef is, here’s a quick blurb to remind you!
UMiCef is the one and only official UMC charity who offer material grants to aspiring young builders. UMiCef was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome one of the obstacles that may be placed in a builder’s path; gathering materials. We aim to do this through the management and distribution of resources donated by our most generous players. We are managed solely by the Game Master’s in the UMC community.
UMiCef has always been a part of the map, however it has been sorely underused so far. I am attempting to change that! So far, the old requests have been archived and all of UMiCef’s information and guidelines have been updated (including the ones in game in the UMiCef centre). A number of new things will also be coming into action at UMiCef v2.0. This includes things such as:
- Donated gold being transferred to Ultima which is then used to buy materials that UMiCef desperately needs, from the mall, the admin shop and other locations
- If you require an item that requires processing (smelting or crafting) and we do not have the final product, but we do have the materials needed to make it, we can give this out to you inside to increase the amount of available materials we have, and to ensure all that coal you donate isn’t wasted!
- Regular front page updates and forum posts on the progress of projects that UMiCef is helping, including pictures/albums. This will let the community be easily able to see how the materials they have donated are helping people to achieve great things!
So that’s about all for this update! I would encourage people out there who are working on a building project to apply to UMiCef. The main thing you need to make sure you understand before applying is that you need to have made some sort of start to your project. This may discourage some players, but we see this as a sign that a player is actually dedicated to a build and is more likely to complete it. Yes it may be a bit harder for you to start, but you can usually start with a cheap/easy to get base material in moderate quantities. There haven’t been many applications recently, which I feel is a shame because UMiCef has so much potential to offer (especially now with lots of materials!).
So if you’ve got an idea for a project you’d like to build, why not give it a start and then apply for a UMiCef grant?
As I’m sure you’ve heard already if you’ve joined us in-game recently, we’ve had a few promotions to celebrate! First and foremost, we’d like to extend a warm welcome to our newest moderator, jim1105- we know he will do well and has already shown to us he is ready and willing to help out new players. Also blessed with a new splash of colour is our friend, and now our newest architect – gdlovesugly! Ask him for a look at his impressive build that put him in place for a promotion if you see him in game!
But wait, there’s more! In true infomercial style, we decided to throw in three more promotions, at no extra charge. We’re very pleased to usher ProChorus into the GM team, as well as welcoming back our old friends from across the globe - frej93 and Gweldor! ProChorus has shown in his time as mod that he’s reliable and fair, and will make an excellent addition to our senior team here, alongside our returning staff from early last year.
On a lower note, we regretfully have to say our goodbyes to xLRDx, as he leaves the staff team. While we won’t be announcing the specifics behind his departure, we would like to show our appreciation for the work he has done for us during his time as a moderator. You will be missed!
That’s all for now, I’m afraid. Keep an eye out on our front page for more announcements in the near future, but here’s hoping your January has been a good start to the year. Happy Minecrafting!
